We hope you will find this site useful. At Scarning, we aim to inspire mathematicians by creating lessons that are full interesting activities, puzzles and problems.

There are 3 key aims of the new primary maths curriculum: fluency, reasoning and problem solving. We strive to support pupils to become confident mathematicians who are accurate in their calculations, enjoy the challenge of solving puzzles, and have the ability to explain their solutions and concepts in detail.

One of the best ways adults can help children at home with their maths skills is by exploring puzzles and games. We have collected a number of these in our challenges section and we hope you enjoy doing them together! In fact, any game that requires logic, strategy and reasoning helps children build their maths skills- chess, guess who, cluedo, squares, battleships, yahtzee and any card game will help pupils develop in these areas.
