Art Show and Sale will remain open through Wed., Feb. 5

Didn't make it over the weekend to the spectacular 28th Annual Art Show and Sale?  It's not too late!
The NSA Art Show and Sale will remain open for business with the following operating hours:

Monday, February 3, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Tuesday, February 4, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Wednesday, February 5, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Come out and view over 1,000 pieces of multimedia and flat art.  New works are continuing to arrive daily!

The 28th Annual Art Show and Sale will resume with regular operating hours this weekend.

Saturday, February 1 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Kids' Day)
Sunday, February 2, 1:00 p.m.  - 4:00 p.m. (Kids' Day)

Come out and join us! There will be a little something for the entire family including tasty treats, scavenger hunts and over 1,000 works of multimedia and flat art!

 Say goodbye to cabin fever and hello to beautiful, one-of-a-kind masterpieces! All proceeds benefit the NSA Arts Program.

SCHOOL AND ART SHOW CLOSED FRIDAY, JAN. 31

The secondary roads continue to be icy and snow covered, therefore,
NSA will be closed on
Friday January 31, 2014.
All services including Before, After and Extended Care have been canceled.
Additionally, games, clubs, dances, the spaghetti dinner and all afterschool activities
have also been canceled.


Because of the number of school days missed, the following make-up days will be observed.
Please note, if a family vacation is planned or if a student must miss any of these days for
religious reasons, the students will receive an excused absence.

Monday February 17 (President's Day)
Friday April 18 (Good Friday)
Monday April 21 (Easter Monday/Teacher Professional Development day)

The Art Show and Sale will reopen as scheduled on Saturday February 1.
Operating hours for the Art Show and Sale will be as follows:

Saturday, February 1 - 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. (Kids’ Day)
Sunday, February 2 - 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. (Kids’ Day)

Parents and guests of the Art Show and Sale should check the NSA website and local television
news channels (WTKR 3, WAVY 10, WVEC 13) for further updates regarding the Art Show and Sale
schedule for
Saturday, February 1 should the weather change.

Due to the road conditions and snow in the Hampton Roads and northeastern North Carolina areas, 

NSA will be closed on Thursday, January 30, 2014. All services including Before, After and 

Extended Care have been canceled. Additionally, games, clubs and afterschool activities have also 

been canceled.


At this time, the Art Show and Sale is scheduled to reopen on Friday, January 31 

with the following operating hours:  

Friday, January 31- 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Saturday, February 1 - 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. (Kids’ Day)

Sunday, February 2 - 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. (Kids’ Day)


However, parents and guests of the Art Show and Sale should check the NSA website 

and local television news channels (WTKR 3, WAVY 10, WVEC 13) for information regarding the 

school and Art Show & Sale schedules for Friday, January 31.

Due to inclement weather that is in effect for the Hampton Roads and Northeastern North Carolina areas,
NSA will be closed on Wednesday, January 29, 2014.
All services including Before, After and Extended Care have been canceled.
Additionally, games, clubs and afterschool activities have also been canceled.

The Art Show and Sale as well as the Grandparents’ Reception
originally scheduled for
Wednesday, January 29 has been canceled.


Weather permitting, the show will reopen as scheduled on Thursday, January 30.
Operating hours for the Art Show and Sale will be as follows:

Thursday, January 30 and Friday, January 31- 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Saturday, February 1 - 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. (Kids’ Day)

Sunday, February 2 - 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. (Kids’ Day)

NSA will dismiss students at 11:45 on Tuesday, Janurary 28th

In preparation for the inclement weather during the afternoon and evening hours tomorrow,

Tuesday, January 28, 2014

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy will dismiss students at 11:45 a.m. 


All afterschool activities including clubs, practices, games,

Extended Care and Beyond the Bell have been canceled.


Activity buses will not operate tomorrow afternoon. 


The Art Show and Sale will close at 11:45 a.m. 


Please contact your child's division office with information should your child ride home with another family.

Demonstrate your support for the Art Program at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and enjoy beautiful works of art at
the 28th Annual Art Show and Sale.
Open Daily through February 2nd.

This year's Honorary Chairman is the remarkable Janice Gay Maker. Her passion lies in painting landscapes in oils and pastels, reflecting an infusion of light and a richness of color and texture.  Janice loves working on location and having the opportunity to be in the environment which she brings to life in her compositions. She uses the infinite colors of her palette to convey her love of nature and its emotional effects on her soul.

When not painting in her studio or en plein air, Janice is a skilled and compassionate teacher of oil painting, oil pastel and soft pastel.  She has led classes and workshops in several art centers in the Hampton Roads area, privately in her studio and on location since 1994.  Much of the time, Janice can be found at the d'Art Center in downtown Norfolk, VA where she has maintained a working studio since 1992.  Janice has won many juried art show awards and her work is included in numerous collections across the United States, Europe and Japan. NSA is closed Fri., Jan. 24 but Art Show & Sale Sponsors' Reception starts at 6:30 p.m.!

NSA will be closed Friday, January 24, 2014 due to continued unsafe driving conditions. Afterschool activities and sporting events are canceled or postponed.


However, the Art Show and Sale Sponsors' Reception will still be held tomorrow night, Friday, January 24, with doors opening promptly at 6:30 p.m.


The parents who were planning to bring homemade baked items for the Art Show and Sale Opening Reception on Saturday, January 25, may still drop them in the Lower School lobby from 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Friday or on Saturday morning after 10:00 a.m. As always, the safety of our families is our top priority, so travel safely!

NSA is Closed Thursday, January 23, 2014

The road conditions, particularly on the secondary roads, in parts of Suffolk and the surrounding areas remain icy and temperatures are expected to remain below freezing. Therefore, NSA will be closed again tomorrow, Thursday, January 23. As always, the safety of our students is our main priority. Communication regarding closings and/or delays will continue to be shared via your family @nsacademy email accounts, on our website and on local television news stations.

NSA will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday January 22, 2014 due to the inclement weather in the Hampton Roads and northeastern North Carolina areas. Communications regarding any delay for Thursday, January 23, will be emailed to NSA families at their @nsacademy emails, posted on the www.nsacademy.org website and posted on the local news television stations.
