MMEA Treble Chorus (Grades 4-6)

Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA) Treble Chorus!

The MMEA Treble Chorus is open to students in grades 4-6. Students must participate in an online audition, and if accepted, must be able to attend all rehearsals and concerts.

If your child is interested in participating, please download and read the parent letter attached below (pages 14-16). Only ten students per school may audition; your child must have a completed form and a scheduled audition time with me to participate.

Audition Window: Oct 7-Dec 6, 2019

Audition Results Published: December 16, 2019

First Rehearsal (9:30 AM - 12:30 PM): Feb 8, 2020

Longmeadow High School

Final Rehearsal & Concert Date (8:30 AM - 3:30 PM): March 7, 2020

Plaza Ballroom, Seaport Hotel (Boston)

From the MMEA Website:

"Your child will work with his or her music teacher to submit an online audition via ACCEPTD, Inc. This audition will include a recording of your child singing a vocal warm up and an unaccompanied version of My Country Tis’ of Thee. Teachers will also fill out a brief recommendation for each applicant.

Completed applications can be submitted online between Monday, October 7, 2019 and Friday, December 6, 2019. The fee to audition is $25.00. Your child’s music teacher will be in touch with you about our payment options. "

Audition Materials:

The audition page is available below. Students are required to sing "America" in the key of G, as well as a vocalization (warm up) as notated on the page. Both must be a cappella and should be recorded with Mrs. Frederick during a free period or before/after school.

If Your Child Is Selected:

  • They will be required to participate in both rehearsals and performance
  • A doctor's note is required for unexpected illnesses
  • There will be an additional $25 registration fee
  • Music must be learned before the first rehearsal
  • Students will only be chaperoned by their music teacher; parents/guardians are not permitted into the rehearsal space

Please note: if your child is selected, only four concert tickets will be available to each student for purchase ($10/ticket); additional tickets will not be available. This is to allow all families and teachers access to the concert.
