Training Champions for Christ

Sports have been recognized since the first Olympics to be a major tool for character building.  In physical education and athletics there are a multitude of opportunities for the development of spiritual principles such as honesty, integrity, kindness, respect for oneself, for others, and for authority.  Teamwork, leadership, a strong work ethic, sportsmanship and responsibility are also biblically based and a major focus of our classes and sports programs. The overall mission of NRCA’s Physical Education and Athletic Department is to promote the Biblical ideal that everything should be done to glorify God (I Corinthians 10:31). For example, NRCA’s Physical Education Department begins their daily classes with this question to the students: “Why are we here today?” The students are taught to answer back, “To glorify God in everything we do!” This idea is stressed throughout the year in our classes and sports teams and used frequently to help students make the connection between Biblical head knowledge and the heart. This connection is critical because beliefs shape values and values affect actions and actions drive behavior.

Biblical Principles Promoted in Physical Education and Health

The overall objective of the Department of Physical Education is to see each student improve in strength, flexibility, endurance, sports skills, coordination and character through God’s grace and each student’s individual effort. We are happy that you have trusted us with your child to begin this journey together.
