From Charter to Alternative

The Old School
At my old school, things were lots different than they are here. First, the school had very little freedom and room to make your own choices. There was lots of gossip, students not trying, and judgements at that school, so finally I made the decision that I didn’t want to be in that type of environment.

Hearing about Nova

At first, I had no clue where I would attend my junior year. I had toured a small private school and it was really nice but I wasn’t sure that’s where I wanted to be. On the last day of school, I toured Nova High School. I went in expecting something completely different than what it was. At my old school students talked about Nova in such a negative light so I had naturally assumed it would be like the stories. Instantly, I felt welcome and I knew I liked it. I think I liked the freedom that was offered here and all the creativity. Shortly after, I decided to enroll here.

My First Week

At last it was my first day of Junior Year. I had come in late because I was in the hospital for the first days of school, so I started school the following Monday. The first day was a bit overwhelming for me since I had gone to such a different school before. I went home stressed out and happy the day was over. Day 2 wasn’t much better because I didn’t know anyone so I had no friends to talk too. Finally, day 3 I met my first friend. It was a pretty good feeling, one that I don’t think I will ever forget. The rest of my first week went by pretty quickly and smoothly. I found out that school can really be a good place if you go to the right place. I am very happy with my choice and I still look forward to learning more about Nova.
