How to make a good spaghetti bolognese without making the sauce from scratch:

1 jar of tomato sauce

1 packet of spaghetti

1 pound of lean or extra lean beef

1 red bell pepper

Some celery

A bit of garlic

3-5 cherry peppers

Half a stick of salted butter

A good glug or two of white vinegar

A little bit of olive oil

A teaspoon or so of sugar or honey

Other spices and herbs like oregano, basil, thyme, white pepper, chili flakes, cayenne powder, paprika, whatever else you want.

  1. Chop up the celery, peppers, and garlic into small bits and put into a medium-size stainless steel pot, add peppercorns and olive oil and put on medium heat

  2. Start boiling water for the spaghetti

  3. Put the beef in with the vegetables and brown it

  4. When the beef is browned, pour in the sauce. Pour the vinegar into the empty jar, shake up a bit, and pour into to the pot.

  5. Add any herbs or spices, and the sugar if you want (fresh basil should be added only at the very end of cooking)

  6. When the water boils, put the spaghetti in the pot. Don’t break it in half like an imbecile. And for the love of all that is holy, SALT IT!!!

  7. Simmer the sauce until the noodles are done, and add the butter to the sauce just before you strain the noodles.

  8. Serve with a cold beer, or wine if you’re one of those classy people.
