4th Grade Homeroom Information & Announcements

(Class subject information listed under SUBJECT INFORMATION at top of this page.)

Mar. 18-22

  • 4th quarter, here we come! We will continue working at a quick pace as be begin our final quarter of 4th grade! Before you know it, it will be summer and then 5th grade! Let's make sure we are ready to rock!

  • Report cards will be sent home this Friday, March 22. Please sign and return them in the given envelope.

  • Last week, information on our field trip to the Edge was sent home. Please read over this and sign the permission slip and waiver for your child to ride the go-karts. Also, don't forget to send in the money to cover the day. The field trip is on April 26!

  • We are now in the Liturgical Season of Lent. With that, here are some important bits of information:
    • During Lent, there will be some changes to the lunch menu to accommodate for no meat on Fridays. Thursdays/Fridays choice #3 will switch so that cheeseburgers are on Thursday and cheese pizza is on Friday.
    • During Lent, we will also be praying the Stations of the Cross together in the Cathedral on Fridays @ 2:00pm. All are welcome to pray with us.

  • Please don't forget that our school day begins at 7:50 AM. Students can begin coming into the classroom at 7:40 AM, and I encourage them to get here as close to that time as they can so that they can get prepared for the day. By 8:00 AM, we are ready to start lessons and be working on the subjects for the day. We have had a large number of tardies in our classroom, and I am hoping we can get this number lower very soon! :)

  • We are in need of old magazines for a few projects we have coming up. If you have old magazines that you would be willing to donate (they will not be returned, as we will be cutting out pictures), please send them our way. Colorful catalogs or advertisements will also work! Thank you :)

  • I have noticed quite a few students are in need of some NEW SCHOOL SUPPLIES as we come to the half-way point in the school year. It might be a good idea to grab some supplies for your children now.

  • Our next Mass is on Friday, March 22 in the school Chapel. 4th grade is not planning/reading at this Mass.

  • Don't forget to be tracking reading minutes on the Students should be reading at home nightly (not school textbooks). Many incentives can be earned for recording minutes, even if your child did not participate in the first month (October). If you ever lose your sheet, so can still document book title, number of minutes, date, and if book is completed on another sheet. Just make sure parents initial for each entry. These final sheets will be due at the end of March!

  • Don't forget that students are welcome to bring a quick/healthy snack for the morning. Often, we will be eating and working at the same time. Also, please NO PEANUT BUTTER and/or NO PEANUT SNACKS. We have a few allergies in the class, and we want to keep everyone safe/healthy.

  • 4th grade parents: Please remember to check and sign/initial your child's assignment book every night. If your child had a Behavior Code marked for the day, I will put this into the assignment book. By signing the assignment book, you are double-checking homework and helping to monitor behavior at home. Thank you :) Also, please check folders for any important papers.

  • If your child would like to bring in a special treat for their birthday, please know that they are more than welcome to celebrate this way! I just ask that you let me know ahead of time (email is great) so that I can plan it into our schedule. Also, if plates or other utensils are needed, please send those to school so that I do not have to give up class time finding these things. Don't forget that we do have peanut allergies in our class.

  • Please remember that teachers update grades on www.gradebookwizard.com regularly. We suggest you check grades often to keep up with your child's progress. Thanks. Logins and passwords have been sent home.

  • I love to reward my classes, but I am often limited on funds. If any parents/grandparents would be willing to donate to my class rewards, that would be fantastic! I am always looking for candy (a favorite among many students), small prizes (i.e dollar store toys, prizes), and pencils/erasers. Any donation would be much appreciated. We are also in need of disinfecting wipes for the room and any size Ziplock bags. Thank you.

  • Mark your calendars:
    • Monday, March 18: Green/White (St. Patrick's Day) day sponsored by Student Council
    • Friday, March 22: Report Cards
    • Friday, April 26: 2nd-7th grade Field Trip to the Edge
