4th Grade Homeroom Information & Announcements

(Class subject information listed under SUBJECT INFORMATION at top of this page.)

October 15-19

  • Wow! This is the last week of the 1st quarter! It is hard to believe how much we have already accomplished in 4th grade. We will be working very hard this week to wrap up the 1st quarter. Thank you to all of the parents who have been working so hard with your child to help them do their very best. Please keep up with your child's progress by continuing to sign/return tests and by logging into gradebookwizard.com to check grades.

  • On Wednesday, October 17, students who earned perfect attendance during the Testing Week (when we had tesing in our room), will get to be out-of-uniform as a reward. I will talk with the students so they know if they are eligible or not for this reward.

  • 4th grade will be planning/reading for school Chapel Mass on Friday, October 19. Readers for the Mass will be given their readings on Monday. Please practice at home. Any parents and/or family members are welcome to join us at this (or any Mass). We will be in the school chapel by the office; Mass begins at 8:15am.

  • Please remember that our school day begins at 7:50 am. If students are not in the classroom by 7:50am, they are considered tardy and should report to the school office before coming to the classroom to get a tardy slip.
    • Students are allowed to enter the classroom from 7:40am-7:50am to get prepared for the day.
    • If your child arrives at school before 7:40am, they should head to the basement (cafeteria) of the school to be monitored by one of our school supervisors. The students can then head up to the classroom when the 7:40am bell rings.
    • Parents are welcome to come up to the classroom any time before school, but let's start letting the 4th graders gain their independence by coming up to the classroom alone (or with their classmates who are also gathered in the cafeteria before school begins), if possible.

  • We dismiss at 3:05pm, except for the first Wednesday of each month (1:45pm dismissal).
    • Students should know who and where they are being picked up, please.
    • If who/where pick-up changes during the day, please email me and/or the office so that we can let the student know.

  • Don't forget that students are welcome to bring a quick/healthy snack for the morning. Often, we will be eating and working at the same time. Also, please NO PEANUT BUTTER and/or NO PEANUT SNACKS. We have a few allergies in the class, and we want to keep everyone safe/healthy.

  • 4th grade parents: Please remember to check and sign/initial your child's assignment book every night. If your child had a Behavior Code marked for the day, I will put this into the assignment book. By signing the assignment book, you are double-checking homework and helping to monitor behavior at home. Thank you :) Also, please check folders for any important papers.

  • If your child would like to bring in a special treat for their birthday, please know that they are more than welcome to celebrate this way! I just ask that you let me know ahead of time (email is great) so that I can plan it into our schedule. Also, if plates or other utensils are needed, please send those to school so that I do not have to give up class time finding these things. Don't forget that we do have peanut allergies in our class.

  • Please remember that teachers update grades on www.gradebookwizard.com regularly. We suggest you check grades often to keep up with your child's progress. Thanks. Logins and passwords have been sent home.

  • I love to reward my classes, but I am often limited on funds. If any parents/grandparents would be willing to donate to my class rewards, that would be fantastic! I am always looking for candy (a favorite among many students), small prizes (i.e dollar store toys, prizes), and pencils/erasers. Any donation would be much appreciated. We are also in need of disinfecting wipes for the room and any size Ziplock bags. Thank you.

  • Mark your calendars:
    • Monday, October 15: Firefighter Assembly in the afternoon
    • Wednesday, October 17: Out-of-Uniform for those who earned perfect attendance during ITBS Testing
    • Friday, October 19: End of 1st Quarter
    • Friday, October 26: Report Cards sent home
    • Saturday, October 27: Trunk-or-Treat (Please see email about items we are asked to donate)
