Today's Boys' Varsity Start Time Will Be Slightly Delayed

posted Sep 20, 2017, 9:44 AM by Ncs Webmaster   [ updated Sep 20, 2017, 9:45 AM ]

Attention Soccer Fans: The Boys' Varsity game against Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons will not start right at 4:30 p.m.

The game will start as soon as possible, but given the travel time for the team from NDBG, the match will probably kick off closer to 5:00.

The game may start a few minutes before 5:00, but we just wanted you to know you don't have to rush or leave work early to get here by 4:30.

posted Sep 19, 2017, 8:11 AM by Ncs Webmaster   [ updated Sep 19, 2017, 8:38 AM ]

Friday, September 29th will be a half day for students, so the PTO is sponsoring a trip to High Rollers for some afternoon fun!

The cost of $12.00 per person covers the bus ride, lunch, skate rental and two hours of skating. The bus will leave at 12:30 p.m. and return promptly at 3:30, so please be sure to be at school to pick up your child/children.

The trip is open to all grade levels; however, if your child does not know how to skate, please arrange for someone to attend the event with that child.

The permission slip (see below) and money are due by Monday, September 25th, and can be turned in to Mrs. Shepard in the Elementary office.

The PTO is looking for a few more chaperones for the event; if you would like to volunteer, please contact cshepard@northvillecsd.org.

    Student/Alumni Strengths and Career Connections

    posted Sep 15, 2017, 9:15 AM by Ncs Webmaster   [ updated Sep 15, 2017, 9:15 AM ]

The First in a Year-Long Series

Elementary Principal Tammy Reidell had a great idea over the summer to expand on her students' understanding of their own strengths AND to connect students with local alumni in careers which utilize those strengths.

Knowing that fourth-grader Kendra Stevens wants to be a police officer when she grows up, Mrs. Reidell arranged for Gloversville Police Officer and Detective (and NCS class of 2001 alum!) Rick Richardson to come to school to meet with Kendra one-on-one. Kendra, whose main strength is "Achieving," had the chance to ask Det. Richardson questions and to learn what additional strengths he recognizes as necessary for his job, namely confidence and caring.

Thank you so much to Detective Richardson for coming to school to help Kendra better understand her goal of becoming a police officer!

Please keep an eye on this page and our website for monthly Student/Alumni Strengths and Career Connections updates, as Mrs. Reidell continues to help her students make the most of their unique capabilities!

Opponent: first half 6, second half 9, total = 15

Summary: With a goal in each half, Galway earned the 2-0 win over visiting Northville. Galway and Northville battled in the first half until an own goal late in the half made the score, 1-0, Galway at halftime. In the second half, the Eagles stepped up their play and pressured the Northville goal time and again. This seemed to bring out the best in Falcon goalkeeper Andy Klingbeil, who denied attempt after attempt. Senior Michael Kalkbrenner turned in a stellar effort in the Northville defense as Galway's Jake Restivo, Erik Matthews,Charlie Clarke and company swarmed the Northville penalty area. Midway through the second half, Clarke took one of the Eagles' 15 corners and his service was just over Klingbeil's outstretched fingertips and to Restivo who placed it in the net to make the final, 2-0. Josh Scheeren and Justin Matthews both had solid games for Galway in the defense. Also helping the Northville cause were Jarett Sweet and Levi Morgan with their hustle and passing.

    Galway’s League Record: 2-1-0
    Northville's League Record: 0-4-0 Overall Record: 1-6-0

Our next match will be Monday, Sept 18 @ Schoharie.

Blood Drive Sept. 26 - Schedule Your Donation Today!

    posted Sep 12, 2017, 6:21 AM by Ncs Webmaster   [ updated Sep 12, 2017, 6:23 AM ]

The National Honor Society American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held on Tuesday, September 26th, from 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. (the last appointments will be scheduled at 2:00 p.m.)

To schedule a donation, please email your name, telephone number and preferred donation time to kcoupas@northvillecsd.org.

Based on the amount of donations at past NCS blood drives, the Red Cross has increased our donation slots from 47 to 62, so we need everyone who is able to please try to come give blood on the 26th!

Last year, we collected 91 units in two drives, which gave us a $500 scholarship. If we collect 101 units in our two drives this year, the scholarship increases to $750 and we would be able to give three seniors in the National Honor Society a $250 scholarship to apply to their college costs.

Please come donate to help save lives and help our local students at the same time!
