Warm Clothing for Recess Reminder

posted by Ncs Webmaster   [ updated ]

Just a reminder - the leaves have changed, and so has the weather. The kids will inevitably have indoor recess as winter descends, but we try to give them as much time outside as possible until it is just too cold. Please be sure to send your children to school with weather-adequate clothing so they can run and play and enjoy the fresh air during recess. Thank you!

NCSD Showcase Nov. 13th!

posted Oct 19, 2018, 11:52 AM by Ncs Webmaster   [ updated Oct 19, 2018, 11:53 AM ]

Everyone's Invited! See the Capital Project Improvements and Much More!

Students, staff and BOE members are hosting the Northville Central School District Showcase on Thursday, November 13th at 6:00 p.m. While everyone will have ample opportunity to view the interior Capital Project improvements, the evening is about much more than the nearly complete renovations.

The Showcase will feature the dedication of the auditorium to Grace Torrey Grant, who championed its construction when the school was built. Superintendent Dr. Leslie Ford says she is thrilled to be honoring Grant, as "we would not have the quality of venue we do if not for her perseverance" all those years ago. Following the dedication, an 85-year Time Capsule will be installed, to give people in 2103 a glimpse of life at the very beginning of the millennium.

Students at all grade levels will demonstrate how STEM and Project-Based Learning are being used in the classroom to advance how our students think about and approach problems and learning.

Everyone in attendance will learn all about our Advanced Fabrication and Design Technology Program, an additional pathway to graduation (and great careers!) installed at the school during the last several years. Attendees will also be able to take a look at the NCS "Fab Lab," one of the most comprehensive school fabrication workshops in the Capital Region.

The showcase will additionally include information about local resources for families, an introduction to the "Telehealth Connection" program that will soon be available, and much more.

The showcase will begin in the gymnasium. Please be sure to join us for what's sure to be a very informative and exciting evening!

Revised Music Calendar and Concert Info

posted Oct 18, 2018, 6:48 AM by Ncs Webmaster   [ updated Oct 18, 2018, 6:48 AM ]

Please make note of the revised 18-19 Music Department Calendar seen here.

Also, please note changes to the dates and location of the Winter Concerts. Unfortunately, the Capital Project work on the auditorium will be completed later than originally planned, due to some needed asbestos removal and "the challenging conditions involved in working with a 1930's-era ceiling," said Dr. Ford. Mr. Graves and Ms. Matthews have graciously re-worked their calendar to accommodate the extended work timeline; here is the new schedule:
  • The Elementary Winter Concert will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 13th. For this year only, the concert will take place in the gymnasium.
  • The Middle/High School Winter Concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. on the same night, Thursday, December 13th, and will also take place in the gymnasium this year.
  • The snow date for both events would be Monday, December 17th; the times and location would remain the same.
Thank you all - staff, students and community - for your patience and flexibility while our beautiful auditorium gets the attention it deserves!
