BOE Goals

NORTHVILLE CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF EDUCATION GOALS

1.       Effective and Professional staff

To maintain and support a highly qualified (95% within certification, all disciplines) and highly effective staff who are well versed in CCLS, student-centered, reflective, enthusiastic, and committed to professional excellence.

  •          Alignment between district and school vision and mission will eliminate barriers to planning and effectively link efforts for success
  •          Identify teacher leaders
  •          Develop walkthrough tool
  •          Train staff and use walkthrough tool; use data from walkthrough for collaborative improvement planning with PLC; schoolwide data collecting instituted
  •          Data Wise cycle of inquiry used for SDM meetings; norms, agendas, protocols, progress monitoring, minutes and communication plan used for all level meetings
  •          Professional Development plan extended to 3-years
  •          Identified teachers will receive personalized professional development to assure success in school targeted areas of instruction and learning
  •          Board adopts a strengths-based approach
  •          Align teacher Mentor program with strengths-based approach
  •          Provide career readiness information to teachers to infuse with instruction

2.       Student Achievement through SMART goals

Utilize data-driven, differentiated instruction for all levels of student achievement.  To provide instruction in CCLS to improve results on NYS exams to meet AYP at all levels and improve on-time graduation rates on a yearly basis to achieve 90%.

  •         Use of collaboratively collected data to examine root causes, make program, resource and instructional decisions, plan appropriate staff development
  •          DART team members will work with 12 teachers to redesign and upgrade summative assessments

3.       Safe (Innovative) Environment

Maintain an innovative learning environment for students that is safe, efficient and supportive of quality instruction and learning, as measured by student, parent and community partner input and surveys.

  •          Begin data collection phase to adopt PBIS model
  •          Board will offer a Capital Project to the community for school maintenance and improvement
  •          School celebrations, some including parents, will foster a positive school culture

 4.       Partnership and Community

Foster strong partnerships with home, school, business and the community to ensure that open communication is respected and encouraged and that parents are well informed, as measured by increased attendance at events.

  •          Identified secondary teachers will engage in home visits to promote attendance and strengthen the home-school connection
  •          Communication tools used by schools will increase both in type and frequency
  •          STE, Reading and Math resources will be provided to families of elementary students

 5.       Manage finances and long-term planning to create efficiencies with regard to staffing, programs, infrastructure and future needs

Seek all opportunities and strategies to maintain a quality educational program while conserving resources and plan for the future.  Work with statewide organizations to effectively advocate for more equitable state funding.

  •          Develop a 3-year planning model for DCIP and SCEP grants and plan
  •          Develop a 5-year budget outlook for Board planning
