Discovery at North Star!
In 4th grade science class, we are sorting through some sediment that was gathered in Eastern Montana by the University of Washington Paleontology Department.  We are looking for micro-fossils.  These cute girls made a pretty cool discovery recently.  This is a triceratops tooth from the late Cretaceous Period.  It was pretty exciting! We have found some other really cool stuff like fossilized turtle shell, a partial tooth from a Pachycephalosaurus, along with lot of fish scales, tooth and bone fragments.  This is the biggest specimen that we have found so far.

The 4th grade singing in the rotunda at the Idaho State Capitol was amazing.  They will remember this experience their whole life.  Thank you to Shirley VP and Matt for making it happen!

Paying for it during registration was NOT an option back in August. Nobody has paid for one at school.
Please order a yearbook early, as there may be no further opportunity to purchase

Dear North Star Parents,

We are in our final year of the Sports Complex and Playground Campaign.  Because of the support of so many of you, we have been able to make significant improvements to our field and playground over the past two years. Our students and teachers benefit every day from your generosity.  This new area is often highlighted when giving tours of the school to legislators, prospective students, or the charter commission.  It is one of our proudest moments to say that OUR North Star community came together to build it.

As we wrap up this campaign, we need your continued support.  Our goal is to complete the outdoor classroom plaza area and provide shade for our elementary and secondary courtyards this summer.  We are excited about the opportunities that an outdoor classroom will provide for our students and teachers!  We envision everything from science experiments to creative writing and special celebrations happening in the outdoor classroom.   In addition, as a K-12 school housed in one location, we are challenged to provide areas for students to create community amongst their respective schools and peers.  With the addition of shade sails and tables to our Elementary and Secondary courtyards, our students will have dedicated space for building relationships during lunch, breaks and occasional special events.

In order to get the necessary permits and contractors for this summer, we need to raise the majority of the money by December 31.  Please consider making a contribution to the campaign today.  As charter school, we receive about 22% less funding than the district schools.  Without your support, we would not be able to make critical improvements such as these to our school.

As an additional incentive, Idaho offers amazing tax benefits for gifts to educational institutions.  Please see specific information about the Idaho Education Tax fund below.  It’s a win-win opportunity for you and North Star!

You can drop off or mail a check donation directly to the school or give online today.

We thank you in advance for your support.  Gifts of ALL sizes matter and add up!  Please contact our Director of Development, Joanna O’Donnell if you have any specific questions on the campaign jodonnell@northstarcharter.org.
