WHES: Believe, Achieve, Succeed!
WHES LMC: Read, Read, Read!!
Lower Elementary Library Goals:
- To provide our students with engaging and important lessons that not only focus on creating life-long learners and 21st Century skills but motivate a love for reading.
- To acquire and maintain a balanced collection of media center resources, which represent a wide range of subjects, levels of difficulty of formats for students and staff.
- To support the North Rockland Central School District curriculum and the teachers' classroom programs by providing necessary materials and appropriate guidance and instruction to students.
Students in Kindergarten to grade three visit our school library on a regular basis. During library classes students enjoy story time and literature appreciation that is curriculum based. They are also trained in library procedures and begin to develop an understanding of how libraries are organized. Grade three focuses mostly on library organization and skills and the students will be introduced to the research process.
Students can check out materials in the school library. This year students will begin to have access to e-books. The amount of items checked out varies by grade level.
