Honors Classes at NRHS:
There is no formal application process for Honors placement at NRHS. Data is generated reflecting the requirements below.
Eighth grade students at Fieldstone Middle School who earn an average of 93 or higher through one semester will be eligible for ninth grade honors placement.
Any grade 9 or 10 Regents level student who earns a 93 or higher through one semester in their Social Studies course can be considered for an honors placement for the following school year.
Any honors student that does not maintain a 90 average or higher can be removed from the honors program for the following year.
Advanced Placement Classes at NRHS:
The Social Studies department offers AP courses in three areas:
European History (grade 10)
World History (grade 10)
United States History (grade 11)
Psychology (grades 11 or 12)
There is a formal application process. Students must meet grade point average requirements, as well as submit a writing sample and receive a recommendation from a committee of teachers. The application is available online at the end of January.
