New Kent County Public Schools offers a core curriculum in the areas of mathematics, social studies, science, and English that is fully aligned to the Virginia Standards of Learning.

In addition, NKCPS supports a range of additional content areas including: world languages, visual and performing arts, health and physical education, computer technology, and career and technical education. Beginning in the sixth grade students have the opportunity to take advanced-level courses. At the high school level NKCPS offers a variety of Advanced Placement courses along with Dual Enrollment courses offered in conjunction with Virginia State University and with Rappahannock Community College. Students also have the opportunity to take online courses available via the Virtual Virginia program.   Some students may also be approved to take online courses offered in partnership with Edgenuity.  High school students can also choose Career and Technical Education programs at the Bridging Communities Technical Center, which is also designated a Governor's STEM Academy and is located here in New Kent County.
