Fees for the Chromebook

How much is the Chromebook fee?

To ensure that our students have regular access to their devices and do not have wait times associated with repairs, we have entered into a service contract "Complete Care". This service covers all repairs and allows for daily pick-up/drop-off of devices that are in need of repair.
To offset the cost of this service students in grades 6-12 will have a $40 Chromebook fee.
What is the cost of a lost or broken device?

If a student loses or vandalizes the Chromebook he or she will be charged a $300 replacement fee.  The same goes for stolen Chromebooks.   This has rarely happened in surrounding divisions that have had a 1:1 device deployment for many years.

Consequences for lost, stolen and intentionally damaged devices are outlined in the Chromebook device usage agreement, which is signed by the student and parent or guardian at the beginning of each school year.

What if my family can't afford the $40 fee?

If a parent cannot afford to pay the fee for the Chromebook he or she should contact an administrator at the school who will be readily available during fee collection time.  We do offer a reduced fee for those who qualify for free and reduced lunch.  We also have payment plans for families who need additional time to pay

Also, Chromebooks will take the place of many other school supplies and schools have made every attempt to cut back school supply lists. This may help offset the mobile device fee.
