Welcome
Amy Carr
I am the Fourth Grade Head Teacher at New Kent Elementary School. I graduated from The College of William and Mary in 1994 with degrees in English and Elementary Education. My K-8 teaching certification is current. I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 4th grades, and I have been selected to teach at the Middle Peninsula Summer Regional Governor’s School. Since I am a mother, I have extensive practice in dealing with the individual needs of children. I have a creative, dramatic, and entertaining way of presenting material to students, and I easily develop a good rapport with them. My vast experience with kids allows me to create lessons that capture their interest. My students have been very successful in SOL Testing. If I am not in the classroom, chances are good that I am reading, at the beach, tutoring, or travelling to watch my kids' sports. I was honored to be named "Teacher of the Year" for New Kent Elementary School as well as the New Kent County Division winner. I am the Immediate Past President of Alpha Delta Kappa, an international honorary organization of women educators. I am committed to this community and plan to continue being a member of New Kent Schools for many years to come.
