"Hurricane of 1938” 75TH Anniversary- Survivor Stories. Wednesday 9/18/13

Weather Historian, museum curator (“The Museum of American Weather”- Haverhill, NH) and  noted author Roger Brickner  (“New York City Weather, A Chronicle of Events 1609-2005”) and

Rich "Hurricane" Schwartz, noted Author and Tropical Weather Researcher from Alexandria,Va.  will address the next meeting of the North Jersey Weather Observers in Washington  Township.


Topic:” The Hurricane of 1938- 75th Anniversary of the storm that was stronger than Sandy”

Mr. Brickner will provide a first person account of the storm that was mostly ignored by forecasters until it was too late. Storm Survivors are invited to tell their stories.

 Mr. Schwartz  will update the chances of “The Big One” striking the East Coast this season, and compare Sandy to The Hurricane of 1938. He will also discuss his new book   "Hurricanes and the Middle Atlantic States". It is the first book-length examination of the region's 400-year hurricane history. Autographed copies will be available at the meeting.
