Welcome to the Beard Library!

My mission in the Bob Beard Elementary Library is to promote the skills necessary to promote lifelong learning, to foster the development for a love of reading, as well as to support the curriculum of Northside ISD.  I am striving to accomplish these goals by direct student instruction in age appropriate library skills and research strategies that relate to subjects being studied in the classrooms.  I also sponsor the Texas Bluebonnet Award, March Book Madness, and Texas 2x2 reading incentive programs.

The Bob Beard Library is open daily at 7:15.  We are open after school on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons until 3:15.  Students in kindergarten and first grade may check out one book at a time for two weeks. Second graders through fifth graders may check out two books for two weeks.  Parents may check out 5 books for two weeks.
Students may come in before school to check out books or do school work on the computers.  They may obtain a library pass from the teacher on duty in their hallway or be accompanied by an adult.

Scholastic Book Fair
Our fall book fair has arrived on campus and we will begin sales on Monday, Sept. 23rd.  Teachers have signed up for times to bring their students shopping.  Here is a link to the book fair website with all the information you need.  We are trying something new to make shopping easier for your child.  It is called ewallet.  You can deposit money into an account for your child and they can shop without worrying about losing money.  Check it out!

We look forward to seeing you there!
