We are improving our website......

Wargrave & Twyford Community Heartbeat is an umbrella initiative that covers the following 3 programs:
  • Community First Responders
    • Community First Responders (CFRs) are volunteers providing an emergency medical response from their own home or workplace, in unmarked private vehicles, occasionally on foot. Most tasking is reactive to an 999 call to the ambulance service. CFRs are trained by the local ambulance trust (South Central) and are always backed up by a professional crew.
    • The local scheme covers not only Wargrave and Twyford, but Charvil, Ruscombe, Sonning, Waltham St Lawrence, Hurst, Littlewick Green and Knowl Hill. We occasionally back up our sister schemes in Woodley, Henley and Maidenhead.
  • British Heart Foundation Heartstart
    • The Heartstart courses enable members of the public to be trained in basic first aid skills, such as CPR, choking and controlling severe bleeds.  The courses are free and again delivered by volunteers, with the aim of improving outcomes in pre-hospital emergencies.
  • Public Access Defibrillators (PADS)
    • The Automatic External Defibrillator (AED or 'Defib') is a key tool in managing the chain of survival for those in cardiac arrest.  Through our work in the community and the experience of our team members, we are seeking to champion and coordinate the provision and installation of PADS in and around the Wargrave and Twyford area.

We are always looking out to recruit new members.  If you are interested in becoming a CFR or Heartstart trainer, no experience is necessary and full training is given.  If you are interested in helping out in other ways, such as fundraising, PR or coordinating training, we'd love to hear from you.  Please get in touch via the link below.
