I am the visual arts teacher at Wrightsboro. I have worked in New Hanover County as an educator for 20 years; prior to teaching in Wilmington I taught art in Asheville, N.C. My education is a B.F.A. /B.A. in fine arts and art education. I also have an Associate degree in Applied Science with a concentration in mechanical design. I am a National Board Certified teacher with certification in Early/Middle Childhood art. My favorite part of teaching art is problem solving and creating original art with the students. As an art advocate, I partner with many local businesses and organizations to showcase our wonderful student art work: a few include McDonalds, SECU, Tidewater Camellia Club, District Attorney's Office in the NHC Courthouse, UNC-W, Professional Educators of North Carolina(PENC), Battleship North Carolina, and local nursing homes. We also have student art in a permanent display at the Department of Public Instruction in Raleigh, NC. Wrightsboro embraces and promotes the arts to foster well rounded, creative minded individuals. In North Carolina art education is designated as a core subject and is acknowledged as an important component within whole education that produces students who become accomplished and creative problem solvers for the 21st century.
