The story begins...

"WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH – Trevor Francis, 16, was surfing with his father Bryce about 3 p.m. Tuesday near the jetty at the south end of Wrightsville Beach when a man casting a net on the jetty disappeared from view.

“Once I saw him not there, I immediately started paddling,” Trevor said Friday. “I didn’t really think he was drowning, but I was just making sure he was still OK..."
