I am so excited to be your child’s first-grade teacher!

First grade is such a magical time in a child’s life, and I consider it an incredible honor to be part of it. Thank you for sharing your child with me!

Let me tell you a little bit about myself...

A Little About Me

I graduated from UNCW with a Bachelor’s degree in Education in May of 1994. Just two months later, I married my husband, Brad, and over the next three years, we welcomed three beautiful children into our lives.

I taught sixth grade for one year before becoming a stay-at-home mom when my first child was born. I absolutely loved being home with my children and treasured those years together. I wouldn’t have missed that time for anything in the world—but I did miss teaching very much!

That is why I feel so incredibly blessed to have joined the Bradley Creek family 19 years ago. I am so grateful for the opportunity to do what I love each and every day: teach, encourage, and love first graders!

My children are now grown and creating wonderful lives of their own. My oldest son, Parker, graduated from Appalachian State University and is the brewer at Wilmington Brewing Company’s Savard Beer & Board. He and his wife, Leslee, have blessed us with three beautiful grandchildren: Emeri, Holland, and Boone.

My middle son, Mason, graduated from UNC Charlotte with a degree in marketing before heading to Colorado. He is thoroughly enjoying exploring the Rocky Mountains while working for Enterprise.

My daughter, Gracie, graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a degree in biomedical engineering and now works for Precision Swiss in Leland.

My children will always be the lights of my life, but they are old enough now to share me with all of my “first-grade children” at Bradley Creek—and I feel very lucky to have the best of both worlds!

Every Child Is Special

Your child is special, rare, and wonderfully unique!

My greatest goal is for your child to LOVE first grade and leave this year with happy, positive memories that will last a lifetime. I want each child to feel happy, confident, valued, and proud of who they are and what they can accomplish.

I want them to develop a genuine love of learning, discover the joy of books, and become readers who read not only because they are learning to read, but because they love to read.

First grade is a year of tremendous growth. Children are learning to read, write, solve problems, make friends, become more independent, and discover what they are capable of doing. It is an exciting—and sometimes challenging—year, and I want every child to know that they are supported, celebrated, and believed in every step of the way.

We Are a Team!

Creating a wonderful first-grade experience takes a partnership between the teacher and the family. Your support, encouragement, and communication are incredibly important to your child’s success.

Please never hesitate to call, send a note, or email if you have ANY questions, concerns, or feedback throughout the year. I want us to work together to make this an amazing year for your child.

My hope is that when your child looks back on first grade, they remember a classroom filled with laughter, learning, books, friendships, encouragement, and lots of love.

I want this to be an extra FANTASTIC year in your child’s life!
