About Ms. Austin
Hi! I am from Maiden, North Carolina, which is located in Catawba County. I graduated in 2009 with a degree in Elementary Education from UNC-Charlotte, where I was a NC Teaching Fellow. I am also certified in Middle Grades Math and Science. After graduating college, I taught 3rd and 5th grades for Iredell-Statesville Schools. I moved to Wilmington in the fall of 2012 to pursue a Masters Degree in Language & Literacy at UNC-Wilmington where I also worked as a graduate assistant in the office of Teacher Education and Outreach in the Watson College of Education. I completed my Masters Degree in December of 2013. In 2015, I earned my certification for teaching students with exceptional needs. I taught general and special education at Wrightsboro Elementary for 9 years.
I love to read and write! I enjoy fall and winter in the mountains and I love the warm beach weather here in Wilmington. I also really love to travel both here in the United States and around the world. I have traveled to many states around the country. I even took a cross-country trip recently out west. I have also been to other countries like Mexico, England, France, and Japan!
I am excited to be part of Mary C. Williams Elementary School!
