Codington Science and Engineering Fair FAQ’s

What are the Codington Science or Engineering Fairs?

We have one fair with two categories: Science Inquiry or Engineering. Students can enter a project in either category for judging.  Older students will be judged and possibly move on to the New Hanover County Science Fair.

Students can use the steps in the scientific process to conduct an experiment which provides data supporting a hypothesis and helps them draw a conclusion. OR They can invent or engineer a prototype or model that will solve a common problem in their everyday lives.

When is Codington’s Science and Engineering Fair?

Turn in projects: Tuesday, December 5th

Judging for 3rd-5th grade: December 7th

Available for viewing and pick up. Until December 8th

Who may enter the Science and Engineering Fair?

3rd-5th: any student may enter a project in the school science and engineering fair for judging.

K-2nd students may enter for participation only.  

Can more than one student work on a project?

3rd -5th: Yes! Up to three students may be on a team for the science and engineering fair.

K-2: Groups or classes may display a project.

Where is the Science and Engineering Fair?

The school level fair is held at Codington, winners selected by a team of judges will move on to the NHCS county level fair. The county science and engineering fair is held at Murray Middle School on January 11, 2018.

Will the projects be done at school?

The projects are voluntary and are to be done independently.
