Arts Enrichment Camps

Our Summer Arts Enrichment Camps continue to grow and provide excellent opportunities for the students of New Hanover County and the surrounding areas. We offer camps in Music, Art, Drama, Technology, AIG, and Early College. Please read through the course offerings that we have listed and prepare for our camps in the Summer of 2018.

NEW HANOVER COUNTY SCHOOLS

2018 SUMMER ARTS ENRICHMENT


Most New Hanover County School buildings will be closed on Fridays beginning June 15.  All Summer Arts Camps will run on a Monday – Thursday schedule. (Except IBH camps, they will be held Monday – Friday)

This camp will explore the world of science through fun hands on STEM activities. Students will learn concepts of physics as they experiment with building items with different materials.  Each day will begin with a mini lesson in the science concepts, move to building a device, then the will culminate with testing the device or launching contests.

Secret Spy Camp

Campers will be engaged in exciting activities that require scientific skills as they take on the role of detective and learn elements of forensic science to solve daily mysteries and puzzles.

Designing Maglev Systems

Students will explore transportation engineering, learning about the science of magnets and use the engineering design process to design, test, and improve a tabletop maglev system.   In the afternoon, students will have the opportunity to complete computer coding projects using Scratch programming (no experience necessary) and/or participate in The Thinking Lab, which challenges students to think creatively and critically in a fun environment.

Students may want to bring a snack and a drink. Lunch will be available at this school site.
