Highlights from Middle School Social Studies Curriculum Share

posted Feb 10, 2016, 6:58 AM by Caroline Suh

Middle School Social Studies teachers gathered at New Visions to present their most engaging materials for a curriculum share. Teachers presented their most high interest unit with ideas on why it held the attention of their middle school students. According to their findings, students should go through a process of student choice, ownership, stimulation and enjoyment to experience engagement. The group was also introduced to Word Generation to discuss the methodology of targeting high value words for increasing academic vocabulary. Units and materials from the curriculum share will be added soon to the Resources section of the website. Check out some of the highlights below!
