What is the GSA?
The Bigelow GSA (Gay-Straight-Alliance) is a community of students and teachers who work together to create an environment of tolerance in our school. Our group provides a sanctuary for students to feel safe and be themselves. Basically we want you to be accepted for who you are because you are amazing! Whether you are gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual, straight or unsure, you can join the GSA.
What happens at the GSA Club?
In recent years, students collaborated and created this website to provide the school community with more information about our club. In addition, we created Public Service Announcements, Got Pride?, that was available on the morning news and announcements. We also organized a school-wide Day of Silence to call attention to the silencing effect of anti-LGBT bullying and harassment in schools. In addition, we created an activity for the Community groups to use on one of their meetings. Our meetings are social with snacks and drinks, so there's basically no reason not to join. So what are you waiting for? Get your GSA on!
When does the club meet?
The GSA Club meets twice a month on the "first" Friday" and on a mid-month Wednesday.
Important Note: G-S-A stands for "Gay-Straight Alliance" - While this is the acronym, the club is certainly not limited to people that are gay or straight. Be an ALLY!
