Nurtured Heart presentation given by Mrs. Weiner.  The Nurtured Heart book is written by Howard Glasser, and she received 50 hours of training this past August regarding this approach.  The Newman teachers meet once a month for a book study regarding this approach.  Different professions on board for using this approach are Mercy Medical Center, teachers and therapists.  This approach is clear and precise, it stresses finding the positive out of any situation.  In the future would like to have a parent workshop.

Mrs. Weiner also brought up the topic of social media and how it is affecting kids younger and younger.  If a child is allowed to have it than as a parent you should have it too.  Although, she does not recommend social media for kids.

Treasurer’s Report: see Mrs. Avery report.

Mrs. Avery Report:  $400.00 was left after the teacher appreciation dinner.  Mrs. Avery has requested the PA get that excess back, as the PA had given $500.00 for the dinner.  Each staff was given a $25.00 gift card including the appreciation dinner.
