STUDENTS ARE THE RAGE ON STAGE

TEACHERS ARE THE GUIDE ON THE SIDE

Mathematics is a "participatory sport". The way that you do well is to practice and the practice is doing the assigned problems each day. If you set aside time each day to work on mathematics, preparing for an exam in not a major task. Don't just rush through the assignment, but make an effort to fully understand the thinking that goes into each problem. Many odd numbered problems are assigned so that students can determine immediately if they are doing things correctly. Always work hard at completing a problem before you check the solution. It is possible to be lulled into a false sense of security by just looking at the problem and then immediately checking the answer. Doing that does not always require the student to perform the correct algorithm (problem solving steps). -NCTM
