The mission of New Covenant Academy’s Guidance and Counseling classroom curriculum is to support and enhance the learning process by helping all students in grades K-12 maximize their potential in three domains: social/emotional, academic, and career development. As a college preparatory school, one of the vital roles of the school counselor is to assist students in planning for their post-secondary studies by guiding students and parents through the college admission process. The Guidance and Counseling Program at NCA is committed to advocating for all students by creating a collaborative partnership with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.

Services offered to students include (but are not limited to):

Individual Planning: 
  • Scheduling Classes
  • Developing a 4-year Plan of Study
  • College and Career Planning
  • Understanding and Enrolling in Dual Credit Courses
  • Navigating the College Admissions Process
  • Researching Scholarships 
  • Applying for Financial Aid

Responsive Services:
  • Coordinating academic or behavioral interventions 
  • Assisting students who may be struggling with: 
    • grief/loss of a loved one
    • feelings/emotions
    • anxiety
    • self-image
    • interpersonal and/or social skills
    • conflict resolution 
  • Community referrals and resources for students and families (i.e. tutoring, counseling, etc.)
  • Coordinating referrals to Springfield Public Schools for Special Education services
