IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT TAGS THAT HAVE BEEN "FLAGGED" BY THE MVA

Parking, Speed Camera and Red Light Camera Citations which are not paid within 45 days, will be "flagged" by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration, and an administrative fee of $45.00 will be added. Once a tag has been flagged, the owner will not be able to renew the vehicle's registration until all of the outstanding citations and administrative fees have been paid, and an official "flagging release" has been issued by the police department. (This is in addition to any fees charged by the MVA.)

If you make payments online, you will be able to print a receipt on your local printer as proof that the citation(s) have been paid, but you will still need a flagging release form to bring to the MVA with you when it is time to renew your tags, which is only available from the police department.

The New Carrollton Police Department (NCPD), uses a third party company to collect online payments. If you need a flagging release right away , you will need to come in person to the New Carrollton Police Department to obtain a flagging release.  Please come with your proof of payment so that we can better assist you in making a flagging release.
The New Carrollton Police Department does not accept cash for payments.
