Dew Point Condensation

Cooling dominated climates are areas that have high humidity, typically mid-Atlantic areas and further south. The sensible load (temperature) and the latent load (humidity), together compound thermal comfort. Even cool air that has a high humidity level is uncomfortable due to the lack of evaporative cooling effect on our skin.

Moisture caused by “Dew Point” inside of your basement from high summer humidity and a cool basement structure, can become very unhealthy. The traditional solution is to increase dehumidification, causing over cooling and excess energy use.

The Passive House Planning Package PHPP that was developed in Germany is now adjusting to the humid climate zones.
