News for the Week of March 17-21, 2014
Welcome to 4th quarter! In a few short weeks the class of 202 will turn in their books and be promoted to 7th grade. We have so much to do in this last quarter of the year. Besides MAP testing, a field trip, and the end-of-the-year reading party, we still have many tasks to accomplish. We still need to learn about the Greeks and Romans. We still need to learn finish our unit on rocks and minerals and complete a unit on cells. There are still many short stories and a couple of literature sets to be read. In math, we need to finish geometry and cover probability and statistics and algebraic equations. Please help me keep the students focused on our tasks by getting a good night's sleep, completing homework, and being here physically and mentally. As the weather gets nicer it is hard to maintain focus for everyone. I want the students to be prepared for junior high, and I need your help.
There will be a few classroom routine changes this quarter as part of the transition to junior high. I will be posting the current day's assignments after school each day. Students will be responsible for writing down assignments, tests, etc. when announced in class instead of copying the entire day's assignments at the beginning of the day.
Our field trip plans have been finalized. We will be going to Union Station with the 5th grade on May 9. We will leave at 8:00 am and will return by 3:00 pm. Students will need to bring lunch and any money for souvenirs. A note will be going home with the students this week detailing the cost, etc. Please contact me if you have any questions.
