News for the Week of March 10-14, 2014
It's hard to believe that we will begin our 4th quarter next Monday! Each year, the school year seems to go faster. 3rd quarter grade cards will be coming home with your child next week. Please be watching for it (and even asking to see it)!
We have several students who have met their 3rd quarter reading goals, as well as, their reading goals for the YEAR! :) I'm really proud of how hard the students have worked. Those who have met their reading goals for the year continue to read and accumulate points.
Our annual 5th & 6th grade field trip will be on May 9, 2014. We will be going to Union Station in Kansas City to view the exhibit about King Tut's tomb. This exhibit is a recreation of the artifacts found in the tomb the way Howard Carter would have seen them when he discovered the tomb in 1922. I explained to the students that the artifacts are replicas because the original artifacts are no longer allowed outside of Egypt due to their fragile state. I will be sending more information about the field trip, including the cost, when I hear back from Union Station.
The 6th grade, along with several other grade levels, will be taking the MAP test in a 1 week period, as opposed to the 2 weeks we've done in the past. I will send a testing schedule home with the students as we get closer to the time. We will be testing during the last week of April. Several parents have signed up to send snacks. PTO will be providing bottles of water again this year.
