Nelson County Concert Band participated in the Music in The Parks Festival at Yorktown High School on May 9, 2015.  They won first place in Single A and earned a superior rating with a score of 92.5 out of 100.  They also won overall first place for concert band due to their high score and received the highest score of the day including concert bands, jazz bands, parade bands and chorus groups.  Nelson County Public Schools is very proud of the accomplishments of the concert band ensemble!

        Nelson County Public Schools are committed to maintaining a high standard of quality for the individual student. The curriculum at all levels is aimed primarily at the expansion and development of each student's intellectual, physical, social and emotional capabilities. Using the Virginia Standards of Learning as the minimum competencies expected of our students, teachers and administrators work with parents and the community to ensure that the needs of each child are met.

        Nelson County High School offers students from grades 9 to 12 a full range of educational opportunities. Nelson Middle School offers  "true middle school" programs with grades 6 to 8. Lastly, Tye River Elementary  and Rockfish River Elementary offer outstanding elementary school programs for students in grades Pre-K through grade 5.
