Girls Book Club

All girls are invited to join the Girls Book Club.  The club meets every other Monday (from October to May) in the library during lunch.  Every meeting, students get a new book to read for the next meeting.  The books vary depending on grade levels, but all deal with issues and concerns that girls deal with in middle school.  Topics include bullying, body image, self-esteem, eating disorders, relationships, and friendships.  Older students may also read books about self-mutilation, sexual assault, and other more mature topics.  Ms. Gheen facilitates the meetings and Ms. Pugh, the guidance counselor, often participates in discussion.  Ms. Pugh is also available to talk to students who want to discuss further issues that come up in the readings or book club meetings.
