Finances

To keep the trip cost as low as possible ISA is coordinating the travel instead of using an exchange agency. 
The group depends on your participation and timely payment.  

Guidelines for payments:
  • Make personal or cashier's check payable to ISA
  • Money orders are also accepted
  • No cash, please
  • Put the travelers name on the check 
  • Mail or deliver payment to ISA office or a sponsor on the due date (notify if there will be a delay)

Note: The yen fluctuates in value compared to the dollar.  This is the best estimate of costs based on the value of the yen 9/23/13 -100 ¥ = $1.01  If the dollar would fall significantly, the price could increase.  The only other variable could be additional fuel or taxes on the airfare.  The cost is for thirteen travelers and two sponsors.

The fee covers:

-  airfare from San Antonio to Osaka, Japan
-  land travel from the airport to Takayama, Takayama to Kyoto, Kyoto to airport
-  gifts for school officials, mayor,  and others in Takayama
-  ryokan (hotel) in Takayama for teachers and ryokan in Kyoto for all
-  group dinner last night in Kyoto
-  telephone for sponsors in Japan, some entries in Kyoto, train to Nara, entry Nara, and other miscellaneous expenses
