Volunteering

Your community service learning (CSL) requirement at Needham High School enriches your education beyond the classroom. Volunteering can help us get out of our immediate comfort zone and improve the lives of others.  Many students discover a career or personal interest through volunteering. Others meet people they would have never come across in their daily lives; this helps you to interact more with diverse populations,  an important life skill. For these and other reasons, we encourage you to volunteer. There are several organizations in and around the Needham area in need of your help!

Following this list of pre-approved opportunities, there are links to other organizations that have additional resources for volunteer services. If you have used other resources successfully, please let me know so I can add them to this page. You may also want to look at the Summer Opportunities page on this site

Pre-Approved Volunteer Opportunities

The following is a list of organizations that have been pre-approved for community service credits.  A minimum of 30 hours must be completed at one organization. This list will be updated on a regular basis as more opportunities become available. If you have an idea for volunteer service that is not on this list, please inform your School Counselor.

There are a number of summer travel programs which offer community service opportunities. Please see the Summer Opportunities page under Community Service and travel programs.

Internship placements, with the exception of the TEC program must be pre-approved in order for credit to be given.

Counselor in Training (CIT) programs are typically not eligible for community service credit.  Please speak to your School Counselor if there is a community service piece of your CIT program that is substantially separate from the training piece.
