Experimental Writing

Experimental writing is an elective course designed to enable students to approach writing with a sense of freedom. Students have experiences in a variety of forms such as letters, personal narratives, journals, short stories, dramatic monologues, dialogues and one-act plays. They write poetry and experiment with different voices and styles. They have opportunities to discuss ideas and to share their writing with other students. Students are expected to complete reading and writing exercises for classroom discussion and evaluation. They are required to respond to both teacher and peer evaluation of their work and to complete the process of writing by editing their work carefully and precisely. Class time is given for individual conferences and evaluations of students’ progress.
