Week 38

Class Notes:

We will complete our curriculum units this week and slow down the pace of instruction. The final days of school will focus on reflections and transition to the 4th grade.

Our class has earned a Pajama Day on Thursday. Students are welcome to wear pjs that day!

On Friday, our class will enjoy a picnic lunch.  We will eat together in the OLC. Students are welcome to buy lunch or bring lunch from home.  Students are welcome to bring in a towel or small blanket if they wish.

We will continue to explore earth science topics: Changes in the Earth Surface.  Last week, the Acton Discovery Museum  came to visit the 3rd grade and introduced students to  basic geology concepts-- how rock formation and erosion create landforms.  Students made sedimentation chambers and grew their own crystals.  On Friday, students used stream tables to explore how the movement of water can effect the earth.

In Fundations, we will  learn 2 new glued sounds -ture (capture) and -tu (spatula), and also 2 new letter combinations -ti (patient) and -ci (glacier).

We will wrap up our Geometry unit this week.

We will write postcards to our Pen Pals. Next week, our Pen Pals will travel to Mitchell and we will spend the afternoon together!

We will write letters of introduction to our 4th grade teachers .

We will create a summer reading list.

We will write one more entry in our Reflections Journals.

Our last book swapping day is on Wednesdays--please help your child remember to return their library books.
