Week 37

Class Notes:

As we head into the final days of 3rd grade, we will complete our curriculum units this week and begin to slow the pace of instruction. The remainder of the year will focus on reflection, celebration, and preparing for the transition to 4th grade.

Math: We will wrap up Unit 6: Measurement (assessment on Thursday) and finish the year with a review of shapes and perimeter.

Fundations: Students will explore advanced glued sounds such as -ture (capture) and -tu (spatula), along with two new letter combinations: -ti (patient) and -ci (glacier).

Pen Pals: We will write our final letters to our Pen Pals, and next Tuesday our 3rd grade Pen Pals from SWES will visit our school for a special picnic together.  Our Pen Pal Picnic is next Tuesday! Please remember to send your child to school with a lunch that day so we can enjoy a picnic with our Pen Pals.

Looking Ahead to 4th Grade: Students will write letters of introduction to their future 4th grade teachers to help prepare for the year ahead.

Kindness Rocks: We will create Kindness Rocks and “plant” them around the school grounds to spread joy and positivity throughout our school community.

Be sure to ask your 3rd grader about our WOW Board Mystery Wheel! The students have worked incredibly hard all year, and they are now enjoying some fun end-of-year activities and rewards as we celebrate a wonderful year together.

Summer Reading with Beanstack: Mitchell School is launching Beanstack, a new online reading log program that will help students stay motivated and engaged with reading all summer long. Students will learn how to use Beanstack before the end of the school year, and a flyer with sign-up information will be sent home next week. Thank you to our PTC for funding this exciting program through the Read-A-Thon!
