Week 25 Class Notes
Welcome back! I hope you all had a great February vacation week.
In Readers Workshop, we will begin a new reading unit: Whodunit? Drawing on All We Know About Mysteries to Read Mysteries.
In Writers Workshop, we will wrap up our writing unit: The Baby Literary Essay, and begin a new writing unit: Changing the World (persuasive speeches, petitions and editorials).
In Fundations, we will continue with Unit 9: the r-controlled syllable. We will focus on multisyllabic words that end with the /er/ sound (3 different spelling options-- ar, er and or).
In Math, we will launch a new Fractions Unit. Lessons this week will focus on unit fractions and how unit fractions are formed by partitioning shapes into equal parts.
State House Field Trip
We will be visiting the State House on Friday. We will be eating lunch at the State House; please be sure your student brings lunch that day. Here are all the details.
During Social Studies, the 3rd graders are so excited to begin work on the State Fair. On Friday, April 12th we will invite parents into our classroom for the State Fair. Details HERE.
