Home Buyer Assistance Programs by City

There are many programs available for first-time home buyers moving into the Twin Cities. When applying for programs through either Minneapolis or Saint Paul, the most important thing to know is that you must not have owned a home in the last three years. Most first-time home buyer programs, whether city, county, or state, are issued on a first-come, first-served basis.

Choose a neighborhood that fits your lifestyle. For instance, a gated community with an after-10 p.m. noise ordinance isn’t a good fit for someone that throws frequent parties. If you are a social butterfly, opt for a neighborhood with a vibrant social or music scene. If you are a quiet and busy young professional, then a quiet condo might be a perfect fit for you. Look at as many properties as you need until you find the perfect fit. Check out the programs listed by city below that are available for first time home buyers.
