RECOMMENDED READING CARTS FOR EACH GRADE LEVEL!
Each academic year, the Saxe Library Media Specialists update, read and recommend titles to each grade level reading cart. Titles added are based on published library reviews, national and state awards, and age-appropriate themes.
Students in grades 5, 6, 7, and 8 have access to at least 100 books for suggested independent reading. These carts are located by the main circulation desk for quick easy access and checkout.
Each grade level receives book talks on these titles with the emphasis on the following essential questions:
Grade 5: What is good literature?
Grade 6: What strategies do good readers use in their reading lives?
Grade 7: Why free read?
Grade 8: How does reading help us to make connections to our feelings, to others, and to the world around us?
