Class descriptions can be found below

Grades 2 & 3

Bubbles: Children gain an understanding of surface tension as they investigate how soap changes water, and then deepen their understanding by blowing and measuring soap bubbles.
Falling and Flying: Children learn about air resistance by designing, building, and testing parachutes and air-powered rockets.

Magnets: Children learn about magnetism by exploring magnets and creating magnet tricks and inventions.
Oobleck: Children investigate the properties of a strange, goopy material called Oobleck. They design, build, and test spaceships to land on the material.

Art: Students will explore art as a main focus and how it connects to the other components of STEAM through hands-on learning, problem-solving and creative use of various art media. Students will work with the Elements of Art and Principles of Design as they explore.

Computer Coding: Students will learn the basics of the Scratch programming language, which is a free interface developed by MIT. Through the process of designing basic programs such as animations and interactive stories, students will develop problem solving and sequencing skills.

Grades 4 & 5

Crime Lab Science: Children investigate a crime scene mystery; they find evidence, meet suspects, and investigate the evidence to come up with their own explanations of what happened --just like real forensic scientists do!
Mystery Detectives: Children explore mysteries around a bike crash, a missing painting, a missing diamond, and money missing from a zoo. They make observations about the evidence and then use the evidence to make inferences about what they think may have happened.

Engineering Adventures- Earthquake Resistant Buildings: In this earthquake engineering unit, children learn about bracing and other ways to support buildings during earthquakes. Kids are asked to engineer earthquake resistant buildings, and create a list of building codes to help others build earthquake resistant structures.

Art: Students will explore art as a main focus and how it connects to the other components of STEAM through hands-on learning, problem-solving and creative use of various art media. Students will work with the Elements of Art and Principles of Design as they explore.

Computer Coding: Students will learn the basics of the Scratch programming language, which is an interface developed by MIT. Through the process of designing basic programs such as animations and interactive stories, students will develop problem solving and sequencing skills.
