Dual Exceptionalities:  Is my child Gifted or Learning Disabled?
https://www.verywell.com/dual-exceptionalities-1449152
A very interesting article.  Sometimes the gifted student comes under more labels than just one.

Talented and Gifted Class (TAG)--The TAG class put on a radio drama for the 5th and 6th grades called So Scary.  It was a science fiction tale about what could happen if a plague were to be released in the world.  Each student was responsible for various sound effects.  I think they enjoyed that part of the drama most of all.  We will be working on Power Points, Math, and Writing skills during the third quarter.

7th Grade Reading--We are in the middle of a unit studying the book Across Five Aprils by Irene Hunt, as well as looking in depth into the Civil War.  The students will be exploring family relationships and what it was like to grow up during this time.  We will also be doing some intense research into what events happened during each year of the Civil War.  Students will become familiar with the Library of Congress website and all that it has to offer.

About me:
My name is Tina Elschlager.  This is my thirteenth year teaching at Nauvoo-Colusa.  I previously taught at Keokuk Christian Academy and prior to that, I worked as the librarian at Nauvoo-Colusa Elementary School for fifteen years.  I also serve as the media specialist for the district.
I love to teach.  There is nothing more exciting than when students have fun learning and reading.  I love it when students come to me and tell me how much they enjoyed the book and ask for another recommendation.
I am married to David and we have three grown, successful children and five precious children.
