About your teachers

Ms Kummer

Hello! My name is Kristin Kummer Lupien and I am so excited to be teaching 3rd grade at Star Academy this year! I am a Bay Area native, and I just moved to the Sacramento area this summer. I love it so far!

After receiving my B.S. in Psychology with an emphasis in Child/Adolescent Development from Saint Mary's and my Multiple Subject teaching credential from Cal State East Bay, I spent the first seven years of my career teaching 1st & 2nd grade. Then, for the last two years, I made the switch to 7th grade English-Language Arts. Now, I am so happy to return to early elementary, my original passion.

I will not be the only teacher in room C-6 this year; we are also fortunate to have Mrs. Pollard, a familiar NCS face, leading our studies during my maternity leave (approximately mid-Dec. through mid-Feb.). Mrs. Pollard and I will be in frequent communication while I am out of the classroom, working together to ensure that the students are able to seamlessly transition between their two teachers.

When I'm not at school, I love to garden, travel, go to concerts, visit my friends and family in the Bay Area, and explore my new Sacramento community!

Mrs. Pollard

My name is Christine Pollard. I have been a substitute teacher for the past seven years. I love the role of supporting our teachers when they need to be away from their classroom, and in particular I enjoy long-term positions. I have also taught yoga for the past 16 years and I enjoy bringing the benefit of body-mind awareness to the kids I teach. I am excited to fill in for third grade at Star Academy this fall. I enjoy yoga and running, cooking, being outdoors and spending time with my husband and two sons.
