[UPCOMING] Second Community Forum on July 12 @ 7pm

posted Jun 30, 2017, 6:41 AM by Christina Maryland   [ updated Jun 30, 2017, 6:47 AM ]

The Kennedy Middle School Building Committee (KMSBC), for the Natick Public Schools, invites you to participate in the second community forum for the Kennedy Middle School Feasibility Study. Details for this forum are listed below:

Kennedy Middle School Building Project
Community Forum
Wednesday, July 12, 2017
7:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Kennedy Middle School, Auditorium

This is the second public forum—in a series of forums—that will focus on helping the community understand feasibility options for the proposed building project. The full forum schedule is (tentatively) listed as:
  • Wednesday, May 31, 2017: LISTENING: Gathering community input
  • Wednesday, July 12, 2017: ALTERNATIVES: Understanding the feasibility options [UPCOMING]
  • TBD, September 2017: RECOMMENDED SOLUTION: Understanding the proposed solution
Please note: an updated forum agenda will be posted on the Kennedy Building Project website: bit.ly/kennedynps after the July 4th holiday.

The KMSBC will consider the broadest range of options and possibilities to address the operational and educational constraints of the John F. Kennedy Middle School. This forum and the subsequent forums play a vital role in that process. Please attend and share your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions. The focus of each workshop is different so citizens are encouraged to attend all. The workshops will build on each other.

Your feedback and input are important. We hope you are able to attend this forum. We look forward to working cooperatively with the Natick community on this great opportunity to develop a solution for upgrading Kennedy and ensuring our educational objectives are met, while also addressing much-needed building systems and infrastructure issues.

If you're unable to attend the meeting, you can watch the meeting on Facebook Live by visiting the Natick Public Schools page (www.facebook.com/natickps).

Should you have questions or comments, email the project team: kennedyproject@natickps.org.

Project Milestone: Site Selection

posted May 18, 2017, 6:34 AM by Christina Maryland   [ updated May 18, 2017, 6:34 AM ]

The Kennedy Middle School project is a partnership with the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA), Natick Public Schools and the Town of Natick. As part of the Feasibility Study with the MSBA, the Kennedy Middle School Building Committee (KMSBC) must evaluation both addition/renovation and new construction options. The project team and the KMSBC explored several potential sites in Town for consideration of a new school option including the existing JFKMS school campus. On May 3rd, the KMSBC voted to approve the existing JFKMS School campus at 165 Mill Street as the location for the new school options to study.

The site selection analysis was approved by School Committee at their meeting on May 8th, 2017.

Architect Approved by MSBA

posted Mar 30, 2017, 11:03 AM by Christina Maryland   [ updated Apr 3, 2017, 7:25 AM ]

On March 28, 2017, the MBSA approved Ai3, the first choice, as the architect for the Kennedy Building Project. We are appreciative of the MSBA for their work with us.

We have worked with Ai3 in the past on the Wilson Middle School and Natick High School building projects. Both projects finished on time and under budget. We are pleased to be working Ai3, as we know this project will be nothing short of an outstanding success.

For information on the possible site options for Kennedy, we encourage you to review the attached Kennedy Middle School - Possible Site Options document.
