It is my mission as a school social worker, to promote academic success by reducing social, emotional, and environmental barriers to learning. I am excited to have your child work with me and hope by working together we will offer the education your child deserves.
This will be my 21st year as a School Social Worker in this district. My husband and I have two children, our son is starting his second year at the University of Minnesota. Our daughter is a senior at STMA High School.
My role within the school is guided by the following expectations:
- Provide the link between home, school and community to support student's social, emotional and academic success.
- Coordinate services for students to address any barriers to their learning through an ecological perspective within the context of the classroom, the family, the community and their culture.
- Teaching lessons in freshman strategies from the program "Top 20 Teens" by Paul Bernabei,Tom Cody, Mary Cole, Michael Cole, and Willow Sweeney. This program helps teens discover effective ways to think, learn, and communicate more effectively to become a top 20 teen.
