Margo Kauffmann, School Social Worker


It is my mission as a school social worker, to promote academic success by reducing social, emotional,  and environmental barriers to learning.  I am excited to work with child and hope by all of us working together we will offer the education your child deserves.

I have been a licensed Social Worker for 30 years, this will be my 25th year as a School Social Worker in this district.   My husband and I have two children, our son is finishing his Master's degree in accounting at the University of Minnesota in the Carlson School of Management and our daughter is a Marine and currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan.

I recently received my certification to teach "Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction for Teens".  

My role at STMA as a School Social Worker is to work with students with IEP's.
  • Provide the link between home, school and community to support student's social, emotional and academic success.
  • Coordinate services for students to address any barriers to their learning within the context of the classroom, the family, the community and their culture.
  • Develop intervention strategies to increase academic, social and emotional success.
  • Provide group/individual counseling sessions with students.
  • Member of a interdisciplinary special education team.                                                                                                                               

I will be at STMA High School and Knight's Academy for the 2016-2017 school year.
