Attention: Centennial will be introducing a Therapy Dog for specific populations of our school. Artemis is a 10 month-old White English Lab who will be part of the social work and small group services provided by our social worker, Mrs. Lee. Artemis will spend part of her day in our ILS and FLS classrooms as well.
Artemis is owned by one of our teachers, Mrs. Dillon, and will be kept in her room for part of the day and with Mrs. Lee for the time she is working with students. Artemis is close to completing all of the training requirements of a Therapy Dog that can be found on the American Kennel Club website:http://www.akc.org/cgc-pledge/
We have contacted other schools who are using a Therapy Dog in their buildings and have worked with our District Risk Manager, Andrea Nester, to make sure we are following Board Policy and best practices.
If your child has an allergy to dogs, please e-mail Andrea Lee at email@example.com or call us at 253-2900. We will take every precaution to keep Artemis away from those with a dog allergy. For those students with a dog allergy, please contact our school nurse, Stephanie Hicks, and make sure your child’s health form is updated.
