Description of Program:

This programs offers a visit of  world-renowned historical sites as well as cultural activities to engage students, making them active learners who can translate information into knowledge and understanding.


Itinerary

DAY 1-2 FLY TO PARIS. Fly overnight to France's capital. Bonjour! Welcome to Paris - France's answer to the "city that never sleeps".

DA Y 3 DISCOVER P ARIS. A local guide shows you the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, the sweeping Champs-Elysées, and the gold-domed Les Invalides. Admire the interior of Notre Dame Cathedral, famous for its flying buttresses and intricately carved gargoyles. Art lovers welcome a visit to the incredible and enormous Louvre Museum. Tonight, enjoy breathtaking views from atop the Eiffel Tower.

DAY 4 VERSAILLES-CHARTRES.

Picture the flow of royalty through Louis XIV's Palace of Versailles. Tour the immense Hall of Mirrors, the royal apartments and the gardens. Join the revolution as you Seize the Chateau! Later, admire Chartres Cathedral, one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in the world. Continue to the Loire Valley.

DAY 5 LOIRE CHATEAUX.

Compare the grace of the Chenonceau with the stark, imposing battlements of Amboise during your visit to these well-known chateaux. Journey through the vineyards of the Loire Valley, and visit an authentic French wine "cave". Experience French cooking tonight during Bon Appetit.

DA Y 6 LASCAUX CA VES. In the Dordogne Valley, explore the ancient mystery of cave paintings in the Lascaux caves. Continue to Rocamadour, a three-tier town built into a cliff face above the Alzou Canyon.

DA Y 7 CARCASSONNE-LES BAUX. Explore the medieval walled city of Carcassonne. Enjoy Painters' Provence. En route to Provence, visit the fortress of Les Baux.

DAY 8 NIMES-PONT DU GARD.

Prepare to defend your honor in En Garde! Marvel at the outstanding Roman buildings of Nimes: the Maison Carrée and the awesome Roman arena, the best preserved in France. See the huge Roman aqueduct, the Pont du Gard.

DA Y 9 RETURN FLIGHT TO THE UNITED STATES.

This trip runs roughly every other year and is open to all HS  students.
